England Squad Revealed: Jude and Phil Omitted, Saka Returns

Thomas Tuchel has chosen to retain the same Three Lions selection that secured victory against Andorra and delivered an impressive display in Serbia last month, leaving no room for Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden in his group for the upcoming friendly against the Welsh side and the qualifying match in Latvia.

Despite Phil Foden pushing for a recall after rediscovering his form at Manchester City, and Jude Bellingham having made a comeback for his Spanish club following a surgical procedure, the head coach has opted not to including two of the nation's biggest offensive stars. The young midfielder has started just a single time for his team since his return.

The England boss has found space for Bukayo Saka, who is fully recovered and has been reinstated in place of his unavailable club colleague the sidelined player. Jack Grealish has not received a return to the squad.

Tuchel highlighted the energy in last month's squad and appears determined to maintaining the vibe. Tino Livramento, who started at the defensive flank in the 5-0 win in Belgrade, has dropped out due to a knock. The manager has not called up a like-for-like substitute for the Magpies star but has selected John Stones, who had to withdraw previously. Tuchel has spoken about the centre-back's importance for England and has suggested using him in midfield.

No spot has been found for the midfielder, who was called up in the previous squad but pulled out due to injury and was substituted by the Milan player.

The manager stated: “It was only three weeks since the last camp and the most recent victory, the latest display, so the question was why not bring the identical squad in because they established a benchmark. Now it is about building routines out of it. We have unfortunately two injuries at the moment with Tino and Madueke and we welcome of course Bukayo Saka in to take the place of Noni. The defender was a late call-up previously; he will stay in camp.”
