The Madrid giants forward Vinicius Jr has apologised to fans for his conduct when substituted in Sunday's heated Clasico clash triumph.

He was substituted in the 72nd minute and expressed his frustration by heading directly off the pitch.

He eventually reappeared to the dugout and, after his side's narrow triumph, sought to engage the opposition's youngster Yamal during contentious final whistle exchanges.

"Today I want to express regret to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was taken off in the Clasico," the player posted on X.

"Just as I have already done during this morning's practice, I wish to apologise again to my team-mates, the club, and the president.

"Occasionally passion gets the better of me because I continuously aim to succeed and help my team. My determined nature comes from the passion I hold for this club and all it represents."

He joined Real from Flamengo in the year 2018 for a significant fee and has scored over a century of strikes in 335 appearances.

But his career in the La Liga is unclear with reports in lately stating that Real would contemplate letting the 25-year-old depart if they were to receive a appropriate bid.

When Vinicius was taken off on Sunday, broadcast footage from network the service captured him remarking: "It's always me! I'm departing the side! It's preferable if I leave, I'm going."

In his most recent message on social media, Vinicius commented: "I commit to keep battling constantly for the benefit of Los Blancos, as I have done since the very beginning."
